While it has been months since the events on Omega the unofficial alliance established between the Imperium and the Immortals was yet to be discussed. There was a lot of bureaucratic crap in the wake of learning about other stellar powers and adjusting political viewpoints to suit the integration of an human population into the Imperial demography.

The time was right and with the raising expansion of the Immortal forces the Imperium needed to draw lines. So they sent an signal bearing coordinates to their Capital world which was still unmapped and very much hidden by most other powers. The signal's message read:

"Greeting Immortals....Your leadership has been invited to the Imperial Court which will convene in the following week to discuss the treaty in our grand empire. The summit will gather in the Imperial Throne hall on New Serpentum alongside your leadership you may bring several trustworthy bodyguards and one ship of your choosing be it an battleship or simply civilian in nature. As per our code we will not bring harm to the visitors of his Imperial Majesty Emperor Sagess Skyrunner, and you will be treated as members of the Imperial Family for the duration of the summit.
Following this message is an set of coordinates and an security code...We urge you not to share these coordinates and the security code as it would compromise the entire summit and your own personal safety. When you reach the system you will be met with the Serpentum Armada who will ask for these codes....Once provided they will send an fighter unit to escort you to the Ceaseless Citadel."

Orbiting the capital world was the massive system of docking stations and military spaceports that served as the Armada's port, the coordinates would warp the Immortal ship an few kilometers from this station where an Imperial fleet consisting of Drak Destroyers and Corvettes awaited the arrival of the Immortal diplomats. It was to be the first visit of outsider forces to the Imperial Capital which to some of the Varanus was considered holy and not an place to be threaded upon by Zodarrin. In truth some of the Varanus nobility resented aliens and would rather see them hanged from the Citadel walls.....Luckily the Emperor in his wisdom chose to suppress such backwater thoughts in light of an greater cause.

As Viktor was the one who had negotiated the foundation of the alliance, he was elected to complete the alliance, surely he would do this well unlike spectre who would most likely butcher this with her racist thoughts that she couldnt keep to herself. He boarded his own personal Viral battleship and departed to New serpentum. As usual Viktor chose to control the ship himself as he sailed to the imperial planet, the journey wasnt short as the Viral battleships were very slow and awkward to handle at the full speed. Eventually it reached the armada and he opened a channel to communicate with the armada. "Hello? this is Viktor the Bear from the immortal spacefleet, i have this code here and i was invited to an audience to discuss an alliance with your people."

The ship at the very front of the formation hailed the Viral battleship, establishing communications between the two ships as the High Admiral in command of the fleet accepted the security codes, and soon two La'mek fighters appeared from the docking bays flying towards the Viral battleship.

The High Admiral welcomed the Immortal representative. "Welcome Zodarrin-Ka to the Capital, two of our fighters will escort you into the planet's airspace towards the Citadel. Please refrain from flying away from the directed course as not to alarm the Capital Guard, once you land the Chamberlain will meet you and escort you to the throne hall."

The La'mek fighters would direct Viktor towards the urban zone visible from space,as the ships would enter the atmosphere as the ships breached the Thermosphere an sea of clouds and in the distance stood the vast capital city of the Serpentum Imperium,it's marble white towers stood high above the walls that separated the various districts of the city.Thousands of ships both military and civilian crisscrossed it's airspace and in far northern part of the city stood the massive re-purposed wreck of the old Ark which brought the Varanus and their subjects to this galaxy.Huge turrets could be seen dotted across the wreckage, the La'mek fighters would lead Viktor towards this Wreck-turned fortress and land in an circular opening in an nearby walled courtyard inside the walled district that surrounded the Wreckage.

The silvery metallic landing zone had an water pool surrounding it,and the marblesque white stone of the surrounding walls shone as it reflected the unyielding sun.Silky curtains of dark red and black was strewn across the walls in the courtyard with banners depicting an stylized burning star....The Sun of Serpentum....The emblem and flag of the Serpentum Imperium.

At an nearby porch sheltered from the sun and aided by several guards clad in golden armour stood the Chamberlain,an female Varanus clad in elegant robes of red, dark blue and gold and eagerly awaited for the arrival of the Immortal Diplomat who she would greet with an warm smile and respectful bow.

The massive viral battleship got near the wreckage of the repurposed ship. "my friends! i am almost certain we will never be able to fit the entire viral in there without damaging the err...building. Allow me to go to the hangar and see if one of the pilots will lend me their ships. I will hurry up, my apoligies." the viral ship hovered next to the repurposed wreckage for several minutes until a big hatch opened that was no doubt the hangar as a single ship flew out of it and landed in the coutryard. The ship opened and two individuals came out of it, one was unmistakably Viktor and next him was a short girl with orange hair and a blue/white rogue armor on, Keya Gildas. They both walked up to the chamberlain and bowed in return, while this was not of their customs it seemed the best thing to do at someone else's home.

Just as the Immortal representatives bowed the Chamberlain herself smiled with glee,in hopes to make their visit all the more pleasant...Not that the location or personality of the Varanidae were unpleasant,it was more of about their high security even in an already secured fortress. The gold-clad guards whose faces hidden under beak-shaped helms would perhaps betray their good intentions with their crystalline pikes. The Chamberlain knew that the other powers would consider this an power move to keep the diplomats under their guard's reach when in truth it was more for their own security against xenophobes who would otherwise act against the orders of the Imperial monarch.

The Chamberlain would motion for the Immortals to follow her as she walked ahead of the armored escorts towards an massive arched doorway an few hundred meters away from the landing site, towards the colossal frame of the Citadel.

As the envoys neared the doorway it opened smoothly with an silent creak revealing an stone pathway that led through an lush field which was in stark contrast to the almost lifeless desert seen outside the city itself. Deep greens of ling grasses and familiar yet alien flora grew next to the pathway decorating the surrounding for the amazement of visitors while serving as an nostalgic reminder of the home the Varanus lost.

The Chamberlain would only twist her head to see if the Immortal dignitaries where still with her as they neared the final archway door, unlike the others this door was made of the same grey metal which the fallen ark's hull consisted of,upon opening with an hiss it was revealed to be an airlock rather then an simple door. The Chamberlain breathed, turned and smiled. "Welcome to the Ceaseless Citadel, please follow me and do not wander."

The interior was unlike anything one would expect from seeing the outside, the flooring and walls where all made of an pristine and shining metal and the hallways lit by bright lighting strewn across the side pillars on the walls. The hallways where tall almost 70 meters in length and wide enough for an 30 meter tank to traverse in. The group would walk past several Varanidae some wearing miltary armour others elegant robes and coats and some jumpsuits with toolbelts, most would ignore the diplomats as they where absorbed into their own concerns which made the Chamberlain's job all the easier.

They entered an vast circular chamber that acted as an crossroads for the maze of corridors that span across the Palace, continuing straight towards an carpeted hallway which led to an door containing an great sigil of an burning star. The Chamberlain turned and asked the Immortals to make sure their ready to meet the Court. "Remember to bow once as you enter the Court to signify acknowledgement of the Court itself, always bow to his majesty and finally if you have to refer to the Emperor do so as either his majesty or your grace. It's not necessary to bow when speaking to him but it would be traditionally correct."

The Chamberlain waited for the Immortals to be ready then nodded to the two door guards who opened the door allowing the Chamberlain to enter first and address the Court.

"Lords and ladies of the Court...We welcome the Immortals."

During the walk there was a loud thud. Thiw was because Viktor's hammer strap broke so instead of going back wich would most likely be considered rude and instead just held it upside down in a casual, non threatening way. As he continued to follow the chamberlain through the building, the rest of it reminded him of a viral battleship actually just a darker shade. A more unhappy expression apeared on his face though as he heard he had to bow alot more wich was bad for his back. He entered the large circular hall wich sort of reminded him of an arena and almost inspired him to taunt the stages, of course he didnt. He placed his hammer with the heavy side down and the handle up to help him bow and stand up without hurting his back.

He was used to serving a king so he had no problem with calling someone majesty, even if the king on jeslore these days was a lower rank than him. "you're majesty, i have proposed this alliance with errr, a barron of yours at omega when we ran an anti slavery campaign to free some of our citizens. We have now arrived here to finalize this alliance"

Inside the vast circular wall stood large groups of Varanus with some groups of Human,Xaerrian,Solsasian and Tarkan nobles and officers, their faces contained mixtures of welcoming smiles and disgust but none raised their voice in objection as they looked across towards the Tarrasque Throne....Seated almost 40 meters away from Viktor upon an dais was the Imperial Emperor...Coated in scales of gold and wearing an silvery tunic and robes that seemed to reflect the little light cast through large glass windows on the right side of the wall.

What at first appeared to be curtains on the large throne was actually the wings of the aged Emperor who sat upon the Terrasque Throne his face hidden in the shadows cast by the large raised chair that extended towards the roof like an pillar, the Emperor carried an golden sceptre that seemed to mirror his scales. Without an word he slowly made an arc motion with his sceptre causing the marble floor around the Court to move and as furnitiure and table materialized out of the floors. Data spheres hovered next to each member of the court and the Immortal diplomats amplifying their voices through their speaker system so it can be heard across the vast halls.

The Emperor's aide who stood an few steps away from the Throne began to speak. "Please take an seat and make yourselves comfortable....Food will be provided within an hour for now enjoy the refreshment of Sartari Fruit extract and purified water." Several servants wearing butler-like uniforms hastily entered the room carrying trays containing either vials of pink-red liquid or clear water, the servants would place one of each refremshment on the shiny marbnlequese tables, one of these servants slowly approuched the Emperor stepping upon the dais and took an knee as he held out the tray towards the Imperial regent.

The Emperor slowly reached for the drink grasping it with an shaking claw as he seated back into the padded throne tapping his sceptre once on the marble floor sending an metallic ting that silenced the whispers between the nobles and military officers.

The Emperor opened his mouth to speak. "To our health and that of our dear visitors the Immortals....May we all bask in the fruits of our labour." The Emperor said as he took an sip of the fruit extract with the rest of the Court doing the same.

The fruit extract was sweet and had the hint of strawberries and cherry to those who tasted the Earth fruit before and after an short few seconds the Emperor aide spoke again with an direct tone.

"Today the Court convenes to finalize the as of yet unofficial alliance made by behalf of Baron Beliq Imar.....The details of this alliance will be finalized and voted upon by the Court."

Baron Beliq stepped forward from an crowd of seated nobles who could only be assumed as the Imar family, the Baron approached the dais and took an knee to the Emperor apologizing for his failure, luckily for him the Emperor was kind enough to shoo him away on terms that this alliance interested him, with an renewed vigor the Baron returned to his family.

"Shall we begin with the details." The aide said as he revealed an ancient looking scroll and began reading from it. "The Immortals wish to promote anti-slavery within the Imperium......In return they wish to provide an alliance with trade agreements and research agreements correct?"

The aide thought to ignore the Immortal threat reported by the Admiral in charge of the Omega-Slave trade as he prepared to hear the Immortal proposal.

As Viktor sat down on one of the many chairs, there was a noise cominf from it, reflecting the giant's total while the small elf sat down next to him with the seat making no noise at all. The two played along with the emperor as much as they could they had little to no knowledge about the varanus customs so while they were coming over as polite and humble, it was delivered in kind of an awkward way. They joined in the toast but to Keya's advice Viktor only took small sips over time. Not because they feared for poison but because they feared the drink may be alcoholic, and a drunken Viktor may not be very good in a deal like this. After the emperor's aide began speaking but of them attentionally listened.

"aye, that is true...Due to a long dark history with slavery on our own planet we wish to end it once and for all, preferably through negotiation...But my friend, the baron has already informed me that slavery is completely different than our understanding of it, with their health and happiness being taken into acount. You see, the reason we began our conquest is because of abuse of servants but if instead the servants are treated well, are allowed to see their family and are being looked after with eye for their health there really is no problem. And aye, we have offered our technology and our support. In the event of an attack on your people we will be responding alongside you and be sending the finest of our troops down to aid your people on top of that we will be sharing our technological advances with you. In exchange we simply wish to confirm the mercifull treatment of your subjects and some assistance in combat should the need arise...Forgive me if i have gotten things wrong, i'm not as young as i used to be..."

The aide seemed pleased as Viktor's response was thorough the terms fair however there was several concerns most of which came with regards of House Cras'sus who recieved most of their income and status through slaver guilds and running the Imperium's slave trade, they were known for being as cruel as they where benevolent to their subjects and many slaves feared ending up working directly for the Cras'sus Family.

Arguments broke out as the head of the Cras'sus family,Viscount Tazloc Cras'sus voiced his concern.

"If I may my lord....This is unacceptable...For years the Cras'sus family loyally served you providing the workforce your majesty needed to build the empire from the ashes of the great war.....This treaty will deal an significant blow to our own holdings...We have no issue with treating the Ordiakka with fairness but to quell unrest and exercise conformity, cruelty must be used to punish those who step out of line......"

Murmurs of whispered agreements and disagreements flooded the throne hall.

"Take the Uraxian uprisings 78 years ago as an example.....We took pity upon the local Uraxians and they used our pity to fuel an uprising that destroyed half of the Uraxian Sector refineries and only after 4 years of violent military action did we quell their rebellious actions.....Trust is earned not given my lord.....These Immortals will interfere with an custom older then the Imperium itself."

After his speech the Viscount sat down.

In truth this did interfere with an ancient custom but could easily be changed to allow more regulated slavery....In an sense.

The Emperor's aide spoke.

"The terms are as follows. When the Omega Treaty comes into full effect the slave trading will be abolished in the Imperium....Current slaves will be pushed to the ordikka class and receive basic rights to shelter, food and social interaction.Like all slave forces in the Imperium they can appoint an representative within their groups to voice concerns to their liege who in turn must heed these concerns to ensure cooperation of the slaves towards their owner.......In return having access to Immortal advances and support would prove beneficial. The defensive pact however will be decided between the Imperators and military staff upon review of his imperial majesty."

Servants entered with silver trays of strange alien meats and fruits.

"As his majesty decides we shall feast."

The reddish meats were well spiced and cooked to perfection, the fruits were juicy and sweet tasting of berries and mangoes.

An hour would pass before the servants returned bowing once as they took away the plates with small smiles.

The Emperor then tapped his sceptre, during the feast he conversed with his Imperators through an communications device built into his throne chair.

"Immortals......My council and I have decided that given the increasing tensions between the Immortals and the forces I'm told are called the Reich we will postpone the treaty until further notice.....The concerns of your threat on Omega has reached the ear of other powers.....I cannot allow such an humiliation to go unpunished as it would make the Court and the Imperium as an whole seem weak.....Please let his turn of events not lessen your opinion on us and if you wish....Stay on New Serpentum for an night of celebration." The Emperor would lower his sceptre and keep his face hidden in the shadows of his throne...He will watch their reactions....Their movements....After years of enduring the political cloak and dagger games the nobles enjoyed...Sagess was well attuned to detecting lies and deceit..after all if he wasn't then he wouldn't have ruled as sole Emperor.

Needless to say, the immortal representatives were dissapointed with this turn of events. They remained quiet for the rest of the evening as there wasnt much they could do for now. Without even doing as much as responding to the current change in atmosphere the immortals stayed quiet during the rest of this meeting, they stayed around as long as the reception lasted and they left to their own home after a long while. With hope that they would recieve this further notice soon they went home with high hopes to their industrial planet. While this could certainly be seen as a setback it wasnt a whole failure.
